Palmer Family Honors Chief Orio Palmer at Tunnel to Towers NYC Tower Climb
On June 7th, the Palmer family participated in the Tunnel to Towers NYC Tower Climb at One World Trade Center, ascending 104 floors to the One World Observatory in tribute to their father, Battalion Chief Orio Palmer of Battalion 7, and all the heroes of September 11, 2001.
Orio Palmer’s children - Dana, Keith, and Alyssa - along with their spouses Joe, Kristin, and Tony, gathered to climb in memory of their father and support the mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Keith, Kristin, Dana, and Joe completed the full ascent together, while Alyssa and Tony welcomed them at the finish line inside the tower.
Following the climb, they joined their family at O’Hara’s Restaurant & Pub, a location that has become a meaningful gathering place for many connected to the 9/11 community.
Fundraising in Honor of Battalion Chief Orio Palmer
The Palmer family participated as part of the Tunnel to Towers Young Professionals Network team, a team of 130+ supporters who dedicated their 2026 climb to the memory of Chief Palmer.
The Palmer’s and the Young Professionals Network team raised more than $35,000 in support of the foundation’s mission to honor the legacy of Stephen Siller and the heroes of 9/11 by supporting America’s first responders, military service members, veterans, and their families through housing, remembrance, and direct aid.
At the finish line, Orio’s son Keith Palmer reflected on the experience.
